Important note: Minor optical imperfections (such as a couple of tiny dust particles between lens elements, uneven lens edge blackening, very minor coating blemishes, or even a very small fine lens scratch or two) are very common in most Antares products and must be accepted as normal. However, these will not impact optical performance. Also, Antares' products often have rough mechanical finish and sharp edges are, unfortunately, common as well. Despite these shortcomings, Antares products continue to be popular, especially given their price-performance ratio, but if you're expecting a perfect cosmetic product, then Antares products might not be for you.
New Photo-Visual dual use model with twist lock eyepiece holder
For observers who want to power-up their 2" eyepieces, the Antares model 2UBSTL barlow lens with twist lock offers a 1.6x increase in magnification and reduced spherical aberration with all oculars. With a clear aperture of 1.52" (38.6mm), this fully multicoated achromatic design will work with telescopes with the 2" format, including those using a 2" diagonal.
This new version of Antares' popular 2UBS barlow features an integrated twist-lock adapter / clamping mechanism to securely center and hold your eyepiece. The inner compression ring is made of polypropylene and will not mar your eyepieces.
The barlow features edge-blackened elements and internal baffling. When used with a diagonal, this barlow will provide approximately 2.4x if placed before the diagonal or 1.6x if inserted into the diagonal.
And that is not all. An innovative design tweak allows you to attach a DSLR or other camera to the lower part of the barlow to use it as a photographic 1.6x barlow as well. Unscrewing the lower 2" nosepiece (silver barrel) that contains the barlow lens elements from the upper 2" eyepiece holder (black portion) exposes a 42mm male T/T2 thread. Just use a camera-specific T ring for your brand of DSLR (not included) to couple your camera body to the barlow via this thread.
Please note that a nominal magnfication factor of 1.6x will be maintained with Nikon and Canon DSLR cameras. The magnification factor will be smaller when used with other cameras with smaller than approx. 55mm backfocus, unless you insert additional spacers to push back your camera's image plane to get 1.6x again.

Note that the use of any optical element like barlows and focal reducers changes the focus point of your telescope, requiring additional in-focus or out-focus travel. The exact amount of focus travel required will depend on the optics and mechanics of your specific set-up (telescope, diagonal (if used), barlow, and eyepiece). Hence, be aware that you may not be able to reach focus with all eyepieces or in all configurations with a given barlow.
Note: Occasionally, the product you receive might have a slightly different cosmetic appearance or labeling than what is shown. This can often change from batch to batch according to the whims of the manufacturer. However, you will always receive a brand new, original product as described above.
