I have a Celestron C-8 Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope, Vintage Orange Style, Serial Numbers, Aluminum Secondary holder. Usually, when you get an older orange one with the serial number plate, and an aluminum secondary holder, the optics are great. This scope has great opitics as all these sorta orange tubes do. It also has its own serial number, and aluminum secondary holder. This telescope is fully functional and the drive works great. The later model celestrons went to using plastic. As all vintage orange tubes, this one is not an exception, it also has great optics, along with the durable older, style, craftsmanship. Contus bidders only. No overseas bidding. This telescope comes with the visual back that is seen in picture. My telescopes are well lubed, and calibrated. Take note, the secondary holder is machined aluminum, an indicator of great optics. The optical calibration may move during shipping and may need reset. Get your orange tube while you can, soon they won't be available anymore. contus bidding only, no overseas shipping. This one has super optics.  the price is reflective of the quality and craftsmanship in the Optics. The Optics are extraordinary and Superior in this telescope. This one, it's the best one that I've ever look through. Saturn clearly shows the Cassini division all the way around, the shadow of the Rings on the planet, and Detail in the globe itself and shadow of rings on globe is visible. Magnifying Saturn at 400 power is achieved on steady nights and there is no degradation in image. This has the best optics I've ever seen in a c-8. the mouth on Jupiter is clearly visible..  comes with diagonal and visual back, original finder scope and power cord.

The aluminum secondary holder is often an indicator of excellent optical quality. These older, better built C-8's were known for having excellent optics. For such a reason they costed so much in the 70's, the time Celestron Pacific took to finish the optics by hand was patient, and detailed. It produced fine, sharp optics.
