Would you like to make your tripod stronger and more rigid? If you do, then using an aftermarket tripod spreader is an excellent way to do that.
I make the spreaders on a CNC mill from 6061 aluminum and I use stainless steel fasteners (socket head cap screws and spring pins). The spreader, or tension, bars are made from 1/2" 6061 aluminum square bar (solid, not tube).
The leg clamps use gasket material (not felt) for a snug fit that won't scratch the finish on your tripod's legs and don't absorb water.
I've tested the spreaders on CGEM, AVX, and CG-5, tripods, but they should work on tripods for CGEM II, CGX, Orion Atlas, and Meade, mounts or any tripod with 2" legs that are spaced at least 24" apart (see picture). If yours is different,
let me know and I can adjust the spreader bars to fit your tripod.
The central hub is 3” in diamter and will allow the tripod to collapse into a smaller package than the factory supplied tripod spreader.
If you have any questions, please use the "contact seller" feature to send me your question. I'll answer it as quickly as I can.
Note: tripods and mounts in the pictures are NOT included in the sale.
