Here's an item that has a few people, including myself, sort of scratching our head.
After I purchased it as part of a lot in an estate sale, I asked the proprietor if she knew anything about it, but the only thing she could tell me was that it worked when plugged in. And that it does. The 3 1/2" First Surface mirror turns on the motor it is attached to. That was the extent of knowledge about this item she was able to add. So when I got it home, I applied the only identifying markings to the internet with no results that were satisfactory enough to nail down what it was or what it was built to do. Edmund Scientific Co. is the name on the label so I did two things with it, 1: I sent a detailed log of it's dimensions and questions as to it's purpose and 2: had a long chat on line with the representative at Edmund Scientific (now Edmund Optics), and both conversation and email got me no further then when I started. They were unable to answer any questions relating to this device. I am assuming that it is a kaleidoscope of sorts but I'm thrown by the rotating mirror. Anyway, if you have any information about it or would like a project in figuring it out shoot a text or drop a bid. Here are it's dimensions;
