Meade LX200 12-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with fork mount and GPS, giant field tripod, case, and accessories. Scope has ACF (Advanced Coma-Free) optics, and was 'supercharged' by Dr. Clay Sherrod in 2012. Includes Autostar II controller, 8x50 finderscope, Peterson Mounting Assistant, and Peterson Eye-Opener. I've had this scope for about five years (I'm second owner) and could lift it by myself when I first got it, but due to age and health problems, this scope is just too much for me to handle now. As much as I don't want to part with it, it's time for this great scope to find a new home. It's provided outstanding views of the moon, planets and deep-sky objects, and been a favorite at outreach gatherings. Go-to's have been spot on - first time out was the first time we saw Uranus and Neptune! Comes with Meade giant field tripod, Meade electronic Crayford style microfocuser, 2" Meade star diagonal with enhanced 99% reflective mirror, and high-quality accessory case. Finder appears to be homebrew but is well machined and gives very clear, sharp views. It has a coated objective, and a high-quality, wide-field Olympus (microscope?) eyepiece with some sort of linear measurement reticle, though not crosshairs. (I just center objects on the reticle.)The giant field tripod is the same one used on 14" LX200's. Legs are 3" in diameter and extend from approximately 37" to 57" long. Bolted to the top of the tripod is a Peterson Mounting Assistant plate, which has strategically located pegs you slide the circular portion of the drive base up against. When this is done, the spreader's threaded rod will be automatically lined up with the hole in the drive base. Setup is a lot quicker and safer with this accessory. The Peterson Eye-Opener allows unvignetted wide-field visual use and imaging. A cable is included for attaching the telescope to a computer, allowing you to control the scope with a planetarium program. (Stellarium is a good one, and it's free.) Large padded zippered case (approximately 19"X26"X41") with large carrying straps safely stores the OTA and fork mount, and has space for other accessories.
