Beautiful Tele Vue NP127 (non-is version) with mounting rings and dovetail plate, Tele Vue padded case (foam shows a little wear), retractable dew shield, dual speed focuser (original pinion focuser included), clear lens cover, and signed by Al Nagler. This scope was recently serviced for collimation and cleaning by Tele Vue. The only reason I'm selling it is because I'm doing less visual observing and more astrophotography, and had the unexpected fortune to be given the choice of an Astro-Physics Starfire 130EDF or a Tele Vue 127is to replace it. This is a SPECTACULAR visual scope. For AP, I'd give it about a 7/10. I got some really nice astrophotos with it, but sometimes brighter stars show what is called "aperture vignetting," where those stars show a small black "wedge" on either side (this ONLY affects imaging and is a function of the narrower focusing tube - it is not something that affects visual observation AT ALL).
The scope is about 16 years old, and was given a clean bill of health from Tele Vue, and the objective lenses are so clear you hardly notice they're there. This scope incorporates the Petzval lens design that eliminates field curvature. Star fields are flat, and stars pinpoint round right to the edges of the field. It will easily split the epsilon Lyrae double double even at relatively low power. The Double Cluster is gorgeous! Planets show detail like you've not seen before in a refractor. I used a 3.7mm TV Ethos on Jupiter and Saturn and the detail was incredible. And I got my first image of the Moon that shows its "colors" (yes, it does actually have colors - cobalt blue and brownish in some of the maria).
The scope and case will be shipped in the double boxes that I received back from Tele Vue. Very secure, and insured. Signature will be required on delivery.
