Tele Vue Starbeam red dot finder with attachments for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. Includes original box, SCT adapter,
instruction sheet, endcap (not original) and I've upgraded the stock (kind of flimsy, part-plastic) illuminator with an all-metal, better quality variable illuminator from
Agena Astro (cost $30), which is much nicer than the
newer (black) stock ones that come with these. The red dot on the Agena illuminator (which, by the way, could also be used in some illuminated reticle eyepieces), is a little bright even at minimum level, so I'm including some translucent hole punchouts that can be inserted
in the hole into which the illuminator threads, to make the red dot even
dimmer if you wish, so you can see your target star or planet in the
center of the red dot, for more accuracy. I like it much better than
the pulse illuminator. It's not necessary at all to use the translucent
inserts, just an extra if you want to use them. Once you insert them and screw the illuminator in, they don't have to be removed again, even to change batteries.
I have another one of these on a refractor, and they work great.
finder is in excellent condition. Batteries are not included, and it
will be shipped in the original box, with the illuminator detached
(unscrewed) for safer shipping.
