Some years ago I acquired a large optical mechanism for observing long range projectile flight for photography.Inside the mechanism was this perfectly preserved Questar 7" telescope. It has motorized focusing and electronic imaging equipment behind the tube.I called Questar, there is a name for this machine they made and they can inform you as well. The telescope was mounted in a square metal bracket and I added a 3" dovetail mount to the bottom of the bracket to mount on my losmandy G11 tripod.I added a Questar 2" screw on mount that allows for both 2" and with adapter 1.25" diagonals. Someone with mechanical aptitude and good ability would be able to refine the focusing mechanism that I have put in place. The telescope is easily focusable by hand but it is not he same as Questar makes. I have added the aluminum hand knob to the protruding focusing shaft to allow for fine focusing of the telescope. It works very well, once you get the hang of it.
Optically the telescope is perfect. No scratches, no smudges, no fungus, no aberrations of any kind are on the front glass or inside mirror. The central black obstruction is exactly 3" in diameter. I have observed many planets and stars with this telescope and the background is black with no haze of any kind around the object you look at. The images of Jupiter for instance are stunning. If you are so inclined I ordered up from Pennsylvania two mounting rings for this telescope which are included. They are new and unused. The telescope has the original black paint that it came with and is essentially as found from the original manufacturer.
The reason I am selling this scope is I have recently acquired a couple of astro physics telescopes and find I am not using the Questar 7" anymore.
