WW2 Vintage British Army Issue
Crackle Finish Brass Sniper Telescope
H. C Ryland & Son Ltd
This is an excellent rare example of the famous but hard to find WW2 Scout Regiment telescope. Made by H. C Ryland & Son Ltd who were one of the lesser known of the various makers of this model and made few in number compared to the likes of Broadhurst Clarkson.
Engraved ‘TEL. SCT. REGT. MK 11 S H. C. R & Son Ltd. No 3578 Broadhurst Clarkson Type O.S.126.G.A. over ward department broad arrow or crowfoot’ on the first draw, which stands for H. C.Ryland & Sons Ltd , it was issued during WW2 as part of the No 4T British Sniper Rifle as a target spotting telescope to the scout regiments, and this example also has the Military arrow impressed on it.
The cosmetic condition is excellent as can be seen from the photos, and it has clear undamaged optics which produce the pin sharp crystal clear image one would expect from a telescope with such a pedigree.
The brass draw tubes are unpolished so retain the desired non reflective finish, still have a firm yet smooth action, are all dent free, and the eyepiece has a swivel dust cover which incorporates a light filter.
The leather case has age related wear, lid secures via lanyard however missing buckle strap.
Would make a fine gift
